The NASA International Space Apps Challenge is the worldβs largest annual global hackathon, bringing together a diverse global community of coders, scientists, designers, and storytellers, to tackle some of the universeβs biggest challenges. Space Apps offers participants the chance to experiment and explore solutions to real-world problems on Earth and in space using NASAβs open data.
This year, we are thrilled to bring the 2025 NASA Space Apps Challenge to Waterloo! On October 4β5, 2025, local participants will join thousands of people worldwide in this two-day hackathon, working together to build solutions to challenges designed by NASA experts. Each year, NASA Subject Matter Experts develop 20 themed challenges spanning topics across software development, climate, space exploration, science education, and more! These challenges are designed to be approachable for all skill levels and to spark creativity, problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary innovation.
